Mr. Chester R. Kochersperger, 93, died on July 17, 2017, at his home in Secane, Pa.
 
Born in Philadelphia on Christmas Day, Mr. Kochersperger was a graduate of John Bartram High School where he played varsity basketball. He married Ruth Thompson on May 18, 1946.  He built a home in Secane where they resided for 60 years.
 
He was a self-employed builder as well as an employee of ARCO for 25 years.  He was a member of Springfield Baptist Church for 55 years where he sang in the church choir, served on the Board of Trustees, the memorial committee, music committee, and was treasurer of the men’s class.  An Army veteran of WWII, Mr. Kochersperger served with the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team where he was sent to Naples, Italy, and then jumped in the Battle of Southern France.  Later he was shipped to the Battle of the Bulge.
 
Mr. Kochersperger enjoyed playing tennis, but hated golf.  He enjoyed creating stained-glass pieces, building beautiful furniture, music, and sports.  He was always willing to help others.  Most important to him was his family, especially his grandchildren!
 
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, M. Ruth (nee Thompson) Kochersperger, two sons, Richard (Jean) and Stephen (Patricia) Kochersperger, a daughter, Jane (Mitchell) Pennington, 9 grandchildren, Ken (Maiko), Kevin (Amanda), Kati (Mark), Kory, Kyle, Athena (Bill), Timothy (Sue), Krista (Justin), Jamie, 10 great-grandchildren, Trent, Joshua, Lilly, MJ, Caleb, Jack, Grant, Wes, Ward, Elle.  He was predeceased by his grandson, Stephen.
 
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday, July 22, 2017, after 10:00 am at the Springfield Baptist Church, 184 N. Norwinden Drive, Springfield, PA 19064 followed immediately by his funeral service at 11:00 AM.
 
Interment was in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler, PA.
